Following my newsletter last month, where I was talking about layering for warmth.. (a secret layer I wear under my coats to keep my snuggly & stylish) I was contacted by a client who said “I’m done with winter, I’d like a jacket for spring”.

Well, that’s handy because I have just the answer… and chances are, you already have one lurking in your wardrobe!

Which is it? The TRENCH of course!

I know what you’re thinking… they’re old fashioned and better off in detective movies but read on for my 7 reasons why a trench coat is a great option for Spring…

  1. Classic Styling: Trench coats have a classic and elegant design that transcends trends. Historically, they feature the iconic double-breasted front, wide lapels, and belted waist but these days updated cuts, colours & styles create a sophisticated and timeless look.
  2. Versatility: Trench coats are incredibly versatile. They seamlessly transition from casual to formal settings, making them suitable for a wide range of occasions. Whether you’re heading to the office, a social event, or a weekend brunch, a trench coat can elevate your outfit.
  3. Seasonal Adaptability: Trench coats are designed to be lightweight yet provide adequate protection against the elements. They are ideal for transitional seasons like spring and autumn, offering a stylish layer that you can easily layer under.
  4. Functional Design: Many trench coats come with practical features such as a water-resistant fabric, adjustable sleeves, and a removable lining. These elements enhance the coat’s functionality, making it practical for various weather conditions.
  5. Timeless Colors: Trench coats often come in neutral colours like beige, camel, and khaki, which not only adds to their classic appeal but also makes them easy to pair with a variety of outfits and colours. But you’re by no means limited to these neutral shades. You could hunt out a bright colour if that’s more you.
  6. Effortless Chic: The effortless chic look that a trench coat exudes is unparalleled. Throw it on over casual jeans & blazer or a more polished ensemble, and it instantly adds a touch of sophistication.
  7. Investment Piece: A well-made trench coat is considered an investment piece. Its enduring style and durability make it a wardrobe essential that can last for years, making it a cost-effective choice in the long run. Remember I always talk about cost per wear?
